I didn’t get to go to the NAEYC Professional Development Institute this year. I had hoped to, but my flight was cancelled and rescheduled so late that I thought it wasn’t worth it. I regret that decision. There were some great sessions related to technology that I missed! One session that I wish I could have attended was Brian Puerling's. Thankfully, there are notes that I could review from Early Childhood Technology Network
The one piece that I found to be very thought-provoking was this note from Brian’s session:
Print books vs ebooks vs enhanced ebooks - find the one that’s right for your child and your context, enhanced ebooks allows for engagement/interaction but less literacy focus.
Click on the Capstone logo to see Capstone's print books and the Capstone Interactive Library logo to see Capstone's enhanced ebooks. I think you'll like what you see!
Which ever format you like, I think you'll agree with Brian that not all formats are appropriate for all children; but the right book format put in the right hands at the right time can definitely help develop a child’s literacy skills!
