Teach me how to Tekne…teach me, teach me how to Tekne. Lest I betray some of my musical preferences or my too-recent tenure as a college student, I’ll stop there and let you teach yourself that reference. For now, I’d like to tell you about the Tekne Awards.
Tonight, myON will be honored as a finalist in the 2013 Tekne Awards. Hosted by the Minnesota High Tech Association, the annual Tekne Awards, which began in 2000, honor “the best and the brightest in technological innovation, development, commercialization and management in Minnesota.”
It is an honor in and of itself to be considered among the most innovative technological companies in Minnesota, let alone to be considered a finalist in the Ed Tech arena. Since its launch in January 2011, myON has been committed to developing the largest digital library of enhanced books to help today’s students become the best and the brightest readers. The Ed Tech Award, which will go to a product or company that “engage[s] students with core curriculum via technology” clearly has goals that align with ours.
Though we will surely look forward to rubbing elbows with all of our techiest neighbors, including 3M, Best Buy, Cargill, Honeywell, and GuideK12, of notable interest will be the finalists for the STEM Education and Digital Learning Award. myON has worked hard in recent months to appropriate the STEM initiative into our library of books. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about the breadth and depth of possibilities in the emerging STEM field. And, of course, it will be a great opportunity to learn what we’ll be up against when we compete for this award next year…
Stay tuned tonight for social media updates while I hob-nob with the best of them. Teach me how to Tekne, and we’ll teach you how to read in the 21st century.
