International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world on March 8. This day honors extraordinary women and their achievements. First celebrated in the early 1900s, International Women’s Day was recognized by the United Nations in 1975. It is a national holiday in many countries, such as Russia, Ukraine, and Zambia.
