In honor of World Book Day, which is April 23rd, we had a little celebration last week. It’s almost as if we have our own holiday really. How can you not celebrate this day in the book publishing world? We asked employees to dress up as their favorite book characters. As it turns out, many countries actually celebrate World Book Day on a different day because of potential Easter interference. But traditionally the 23rd of April was selected in Spain to honor author Miguel de Cervantes (author of Don Quixote), who died on this date. It is also the death anniversary of William Shakespeare and the birth or death of several other prominent authors.
Here is a snippet of the fun we had. Rubbeus Hagrid even brought us some butterbeer (non-alcoholic, of course).
